Has anyone pointed out that there aren't 20 Titans in the whole game, let alone within a single alliance? Well whatever. Yes, multiple DDD's can pretty much ensure massive destruction on the battlefield. The counter is to move your own fleet closer to your opponent, so that if a DDD is detonated it will destroy your opponent's ships as well.

Edited by: Dirk Magnum on 23/03/2008 11:54:41 Fair enough that there will be 20 Titans in-game at some point, maybe soon. Still, short of a DDD nerf the best counter is to be within DDD blast range of your opponent's fleet. Make sure that no enemy interceptors or other fast ships are able to move around to the far edges of your flank to provide a warp-in point for your opponent's Titan/s. It may not stop your opponent from activating a DDD or a multiple thereof, but at least he'll take out his own along with you.
I don't believe that the removal of DDD's from the game is necessary. The biggest alliances should be able to field the biggest ship, and the biggest ship should have the biggest weapon. Maybe.... maybe a DDD should deal damage to the Titan that fires it. That will strip away a not insignificant amount of that Titan's shields and make it at least a little easier to kill.

Originally by: Burkmat Not very learned regarding Titans, but here's a thought:
30x Avatar = 7.5% x 29 bonus to cap recharge for each Titan / level. Let's say lvl 5 just for kicks. That's 37.5% / Titan. That's 1087.5% bonus for each individual ship.
Fleet bonuses don't stack like that. Only the bonuses from the designated booster are going to apply.

Edited by: Dirk Magnum on 24/03/2008 01:23:59 Limiting the number of Titans that a single alliance can own isn't a bad suggestion. However I think that if there is a limit imposed, then Titans need to be buffed. Yes buffed. They need to get the deathstar DDD focusing script that has often been suggested, and they need to be able to launch at least as many fighters as a Mom. The pathetic dronebay on Titans and their inability to launch more than five drones is ridiculous and nonsensical.
No, Titans really aren't that expensive. 60-70 billion to build, and 10-20 billion for modules. Of course, the real question isn't "are Titans too cheap/expensive", but rather it's "do I want a Titan so my alliance has more epeen, or would I rather allocate those funds to buying and fitting 40 or 50 Dreads?"

A more inelegant solution is to boost the power of DDDs considerably. Really considerably. Like, add loads of zeroes to its damage total AND give it ten million base shield and armor damage. Enough to kill everything, including a POS, instantly. Increase its blast radius to several AU. What's the catch? The Titan destroys itself in the process of setting the device off. I'd like to imagine it as the intentional destabilization of the Titan jump bridge resulting in a massive explosion. Assuming the Titan bridge operates on the same principle as standard stargates, it's logical to assume vast amounts of energy is being generated.
Turn the Titan into a 70 billion ISK suicide bomb. Boost all of its other features (including defensive features by adding tracking bonuses to its guns and allowing it to launch many fighters) as well, to drive home the point that the DDD is not the ship's primary function.

Originally by: Ogron That's 33 KNOWN Titans in game. There are a good few more, and that list is also a few months out of date.
Some of these aren't real. Just sayin'. Drama. Granted I'll admit an error when I said there weren't 20, but with Titans and Moms you can generally assume that the true number in service with any given alliance is either much lower or much higher than everyone thinks.

The DDD is the i-win button, not the Titan itself. If you want to go by numbers, you could likewise create an i-win button by having hundreds of Dreads or Moms present on a single battlefield. We've already established how many Titans it takes to kill a capital ship, and a Titan can't tank hundreds of capital turrets all hitting it at once, especially if the Titan is webbed to a dead crawl and the Dreads have siege mods activated. For that reason it's the DDD that needs fixing, not Titans. Either nerf the DDD or boost it (see suicidal overload idea), if it's such a problem.
I still advocate for boosting of the Titan's other abilities, particularly its point defenses.
